Advice needed for post-op canine nail cauterization treatment of nail bleeding, darkening & splitting?

After my dogs nail cauterization, his nails have continued to bleed and other conditions have developed for which the vet has provided me no explanation or treatment for. It's been 1 1/2 months since the proceedure and my dog's nails have started turning black (suspect from blood filling in the nail space) and most are splitting up the backs to the toe. He's had a nail/toe infection which was subsequently treated with antibiotics, but seems to be in discomfort from the whole nail cautery proceedure post-op. Just last week, a nail completely fell off at the toe. They have grown long again but the vet has been reluctant to trim them because of their current state. Has anyone out there had this type of experience with their pets nails after cauterization that can give me some helpful info to treat my dogs nail condition, or can anyone out there with vet experience give me some info on what to do for my pet? Thank you!Advice needed for post-op canine nail cauterization treatment of nail bleeding, darkening %26amp; splitting?
Never have seen or heard of this personally happening so can't give you any advice other than go to another vet for 2nd diagnosis. I don't blame vet for not trimming them if there was an infection. Never seen them turn black afterwards or having infections though possible since they are cutting into the quick. Just go to another vet %26amp; see what they say about condition. You might be able to file a complaint against vet if there was neglect on their part to the state veterinary board.
