Why do my nails keep splitting?

I've bitten my nails all my life, but about last year, I stopped biting my nails. They started growing and then every time they grew a little past my fingertip, they'd start splitting. Why do my nails keep splitting?
Put a drop of Castor Oil on each nail and rub it in to the cuticles and the nail. Do this for one week and your nails will not only look better, they will grow nicer. Do this for a month and you will find yourself having to cut your nails because they are growing too long too quickly. Good luck, I hope this works for you as well as it has for me!Why do my nails keep splitting?
It has to do with the fact that you bit them for so long. It will take a long time for them to grow out and get strong. Try getting some of the sally hanson nail conditioning clear polish, or the sally hansen hard as nails, and put it on, it will help make them grow faster and stronger.

Also, make sure you are eating a well-balanced diet,LOL, it will help them grow faster and stronger, especially protein! Good luck, it just takes time (:
I dont know why they do it, but mine do the same thing. go buy yourself some nutri-nail. Not the green one the milky colored one, and follow the directions on the package
They're dry. Get a nail moisturizer. Sally Hansen makes all sortsa stuff for nails.
not much protein try eating more protein
