i have thumbnail that is weak and keeps splitting at the same spot ..always seems to get a catch to it and i am constantly clipping it to the quick or filing it down to where i have no thumbnail to speak of............. i have tried nail polish, strengtheners , been taking biotin for the nails for months, and seems to be weak in that one spot always .. any ideas on how to keep this from happening ?Nail growth problem, thumbnail weak and splitting in one spot?
Hi, it could be to do with the way you're filling. Always file towards the centre of the nail as it's made up of 3 layers and see-sawing back and forth will split the layers, weakening the nail. If this isn't the problem and you're filling correctly, then you may have damaged the matrix cells by bashing it or knocking it on something a long time ago, sometimes the nail never recovers and just continues to grow damaged/weakend.Nail growth problem, thumbnail weak and splitting in one spot?
File it and buy some ';nail food'; from marks and spencer. It's a small clear bottle with a light green liquid. Rub this on your nails.
