How to cure splitting finger nails?

So, I used to be a cronic nail biter. A few years ago I started having jell tips put on and now, having kicked the biting habit, grow my nails naturally. My problem is about five of my fingernails split at the ends (the top layer kinda chips off and peels). Is there any way to correct this?

When it happens, I either snip the nail to below the split or file the top down and put some clear coat on but it always happens again! Do you know of any nail streghtening product on the market that works? I have even been told to eat more jello - is there any truth to that? How to cure splitting finger nails?
here:

-drink ore milk

-buy one of these nail hardening or extra calcium nail polishes

-use it everyweek.. or so, it can be applied under another polish, and its usually transparent when it dries. Slightly tinted ones are sold too

- after every bath dip your nails into body butter, and massage the figer tips and nails

-everytime a nail starts splitting cut it straight off,, dont let it wait. If right now this happens often, carry your manicure tools around with you... soon this will stop if you cut it off as soon as possible...

-get a proper manicure for all fingers. i mean ALL... cut of like.. half a milimeter at least.. even on healthy ones.. after every bath or shower..How to cure splitting finger nails?
well there is this nail strengthening top coat.... i know that your thinking i already tried top coats. But i used to have the exact same problem as you and i but i bought this product that has garlic in it. i dont remember what it was called but all of them work just as long as they have garlic in it!
Yes jello has protein in it and is good. Also make sure you get enough calcium in your diet and take vitamins.
To keep my nails from splitting I use Talika Nail regenerator serum!!!! Works great!!!!
