What to do with a dog that enjoys running in the back yard but splits and breaks his nails causing bleeding?

He enjoys being able to run; the problem is he also runs on the concrete driveway that is enclosed in the back yard fencing. This doesn't appear to be the culprit because it has been covered with snow for quite some time and the splitting and bleeding continues. He seems to be in no pain but it would seem he should be. The bleeding will stop but the next time he goes out the cycle is repeated. Is this an infection that causes brittle nails or is he running too hard and should be stopped from enjoying his ';runs';.What to do with a dog that enjoys running in the back yard but splits and breaks his nails causing bleeding?
You need to discuss this with your vet. It isn't normal. He needs a vitamin supplement. Nails shouldn't break that easily. What to do with a dog that enjoys running in the back yard but splits and breaks his nails causing bleeding?
Maybe his nails are too long?...make sure his nails are cut back as low as they can safely be cut and see if your vet or groomer will use the dremel tool on them to make them less sharp and a little shorter. I hope this helps good luck!
His nails are probably really dry..add an oil supplement to his diet.
