Why are my nails splitting right down the middle?

my thumb nails keep splitting right down the centre - I've tried a couple of strengtheners but they dont seem to help - my other nails are also peeling - any Ideas would be gratefully received? Why are my nails splitting right down the middle?
If you are not biting your nails, then there are a few possibilities and solutions.

Inherent flaws in nails, such as genetically inherited, DNA encoded ridges or ridges from an injury will create fault lines along which a nail can easily and readily split; just like a ridge valley along geological fault lines that is the location of earthquakes. Peeling nails can be the result of nutrient imbalance or injury or chemicals or abuse from household chores, gardening, car washing, etc.

Solutions include getting proper, professional manicures at least monthly. They can help fix broken and split nails. There are many solutions that they can employ, but of course, all these services cost a bit of money. At home, you can buy nail glue and acrylic fill kits that can be used to repair or seal nail. The acrylic fill hardens to a clear and very hard coating. This acrylic gel can be filed and buffed and polished. You can also buy nail hardeners such as Triple Strong Advanced Gel Nail Fortifier by Sally Hansen. These are the same types of solutions that are utilized in a salon. Of course, a salon has other remedies as well including artificial nails and wrapping.

Eat well, use hand and nail cremes and lotions and cuticle oil when having a manicure - either at home or at the salon.

Wear gloves when doing anything that might dry out hands or abuse nails or when there may be contact with any harsh chemicals. Why are my nails splitting right down the middle?
They're weak.

You're doing the right thing with a nail strengthener, but be sure to get a good, naturalbased brand. I have none to recommend, however, because I do not have this problem.

It's very hard to solve, but the main thing is that you need protein and nutrition.

Make sure you eat proteinplentiful foods such as eggs and green vegitables.

Take Vitamin A and Vitamin E to assist your nails.

After a while, I'm sure the problem will resolve.

If not, they'll at least get a lot better.

Good luck!

(:
If you ARE biting your nails... then definitely stop. Other wise, use some cuticle oil every day and if you don't wear polish, then at least wear a clear coat or a nail strengthener. I also advice taking vitamins but considering you are having problems with all of them, I would definitely see a doctor. Just to make sure that nothings wrong.
