You could try taking the vitamins made for your nails. I'm not sure what they're called but it's for hair and nails.
Eat Jello! the gelatin from the jello helps keep your nails from splitting and cracking.
I've used Knox Gelatin (eating it, not on the nails). Mix it with a drink. You may not be getting enough protein, and nails are made of protein.
Don't laugh... Prenatal vitamins.
I have had weak nails, and began taking a multi-vitamin, and now they are healthy. I have been told that it is due to the vitamin B's, but the multi-vitamin, at least for me worked.
After a certain length my nails always break. When I bothered with long nails I used to go to the salon and get acrylic coating on them. Your nails and brittle and look gross when you stop using it, but as long as you get the acrylic filled every 2 weeks you're fine. Silk wraps are also good.
There is a product you can buy at a beauty supply store. It is like a fiber glass mesh you put over your nails then a glue and then a spray that seals it. You file it down and make it smooth and you cannot even tell there is anything on your natural nail. It does not ruin your nails like fake nails will and it keeps then strong and will prevent splitting.
try knox for nails, at walgreens or cvs. you can also try taking biotin, its a vitamin supplement for hair skin and nails
take in lots of calcium cause that's what nails are. that nail polish doesn't work that well because your nails also need oxygen to be strong. also cut them often and you should see an improvement.
Hi Pretty,

I told my wife about the way to handle a broken nail. This also goes for chips, etc.

Get a tea bag (any kind) and some crazy glue. Cut a small piece of the tea bag to fit the area of repair. One small drop of glue and lay the repair piece on it. after it dries, simply file and paint??? How's that...from a guy no less!

Much luck!

Mike
