You need to seek outside assistance. Try the SPCA. I know times are tough but this isn't a ';home remedy'; kind of situation. Your dog could potentially become septic if it's not taken care of with some antibiotics.Dog has split nail it looks infected i need home remedy, please help .?
You may not want to use peroxide. Peroxide can sometimes further infection in a wound. Use warm water with salt to keep it clean. If you believe infection is present, your best bet is to take your dog to a low cost clinic, SPCA or shelter for treatment. Should the infection go beyond the nail, you could have much more serious problems. It would probably be best to have your vet remove the remaining portions of the split nail to prevent further complications.
You need to get your dog to a vet - how expensive can something like this be? In any case, it's necessary, this is painful even if it isn't infected and is now a danger to your dog's life. Waiting until his foot has to be amputated is hardly an economic choice --- get him to the vet asap, this isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

When you got your dog you made a pact to care for him, now you are neglecting his health big time.

Meanwhile, put some antibiotic ointment on it and bandage it - but carefuly, not tight - AND GET HIM TO THE VET.
a nail can't be afeted
There is no 'home remedy'. An infection can only be halted by antibiotics, which are only available from vets. And Peroxide - christ that must sting. And it isn't going to get rid of an infection.

The dog needs to go to a vets. At the moment it will probably just be antibiotics and maybe whipping off the broken bit of nail, perhaps a bandage.

The longer you leave it, the more expensive it's going to get as the infection starts to spread. If you aren't willing to spend what needs to spent on the dog, you shouldn't have the dog, that simple.

Chalice
Infected? Well dearie, if you don't do something now, next week you will be asking if you ';can bury the dog in my backyard';.

Shame on you!!!!!!!
call the vet and ask them, a lot of the times they will tell you some thing you can do at home
Depending on the laws in your state, your vet may be able to precribe an antibiotic such as cephalexin over the phone for your dog, and many pharmacies offer this and other antibiotics for free. In my state the dog has to have been in to the vet in the last 366 days. Call and explain the situation and see if your vet is willing to do this for you. If you have a good relationship with them, then the worst thing they can say is no, and charge an office visit. Usually pretty cheap especially if you have the antibiotics filled at a pharmacy and not purchased through the vet.
It would be useful to know what part of the world you are in eg UK or US so you can be given info about where to get help with vet fees
