Looking for some educated advice. My nails split as an avid guitarist.?

As I posted earlier, yes my nails split as an avid guitarist. Sure, some people don't quite understand (comments such as get a pick). Duh and really. Lead and chords are not played with your pick hand. Your hand on the fretboard is what makes the most (brutal) contact with the strings. It's exactly like pressing down on a fine piece of wire many thousands of times a day.

So I ask again. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good nail polish/strengthener?

Sorry if I offended anyone.Looking for some educated advice. My nails split as an avid guitarist.?
Your nails are meant to flex. Those hardeners and strengtheners have alcohol and other drying ingredients. Soak your fingers in warm water, dry them and rub in olive oil. Over the cuticles, the nail beds and up under the nail. Have a seat and just work it in. Then just rub you hands together. Do this each evening for a week, and use hand lotion during the day remembering to include your cuticles and nails. After the week you can cut down the olive oil to once a week, but continue using lotion.

You may want to consider getting an acrylic overlay on the fingers taking the damage. It's clear and when buffed correctly looks just like a natural fingernail. Don't get a tip, just let your nail grow out just past the end of the fingertip enough to get a piece of paper under and have the salon simply do an overlay. They are VERY strong and since there is no tip and if you keep it trim it will not pop off. You should still use lotion.Looking for some educated advice. My nails split as an avid guitarist.?
um, ever hear of finger picks
Try applying silicone nail gel (at professional manicure salons only).
