What treatment is needed for my dog with a split nail on her paw?

If it didn't bleed, it probably will be fine. But, if it did bleed she will probably need to go to the vet because she may need to have them trim the nail (or actually cut the nail off if it is really split; it sounds much worse than it is the vet will put a little numbing agent on it and then cut it off at the root). She may also need a round of antibiotics to keep it from becoming infected. What treatment is needed for my dog with a split nail on her paw?
None, unless it keeps snagging on stuff. Then just cut it off. What treatment is needed for my dog with a split nail on her paw?
In most cases the dog will be just fine. I would make sure the nail is trimmed as much as possible. If it doesn't stop bleeding You can call the vet.
get her a vet
depending on how far down the nail the split goes. if its just the half that they walk on and its not too close to the quick, you can keep it short with a nail file like you would use on your nails( i keep a steady supply of throw away nail files for my lab mix. however if it is beyond the quick of the nail, clean it up during the next bath, then put a light coat of nail hardener(that clear nail polish you would use on your nails) and just brush it along where the split begins to keep the nail strong and to keep the split from going further.

if you need further ideas contact your vet or pet store.
