My dog keeps linking her nail that split from the bottom till the side what should i do?

take her to the vet ASAPMy dog keeps linking her nail that split from the bottom till the side what should i do?
When nail of a human splits it is caused by a lack of calcium (given with magnesium and vitamin D to help with absorption) I wonder if it is the same with another mammal. My dog keeps linking her nail that split from the bottom till the side what should i do?
If you don't want to take to the vets, just clip the nail as short as you possible can and then bandage the foot, relieving the pain that the dog is in walking on the foot and having that nail hit the ground. It should only take a few days for that nail to begin to grow out. Good luck to you and your dog.
My dog split his nail completely and almost yanked it off. We went to have it cut off at the vet's. I suggest you go there. They will cut it to where it wont really hurt that much, bandage it up and send her back home. The whole thing costs like...$200.00.Its expensive. But if you cut her nails every week just a little bit, it will never happen again.
She's licking it because it hurts - it is a painful injury.

Get her to a vet before it gets infected.

The vet will cut it and bandage it.

How would you like to be in constant pain?

She has to walk on this nail too.

Think!!!!
If it is not bleeding try clipping it off yourself or take her to the vet and they will clip it off. If you are not comfortable clipping the nail or don't have a doggie nail clipper then take her to the vet. This really should cost too much- I would say under $50- and should be a quick visit.

The vet will have the proper equipment to clip off the loose part and will wrap or cauterize it if the nail starts to bleed.
