What's a good natural remedy for splitting nails?

My hand nails are breaking into several layers, they actually look like pieces of layer cake at the moment...and dirt getting stuck between the layers is irremovable! What natural remedy is there for it?


Please don't give me product brand names, 'cause I'm not in the states for the moment.


Also, will covering them with nail varnish help or worsen the breakage?

It always helps to keep a top coat on your nails. If you cant keep them clean, You might want to cut them and start over. Use hand cream often. It will moisturize your nails also. I think they could be splitting because of dryness. Good luck.What's a good natural remedy for splitting nails?
If you have a nail buffer, use that to buff away the layers, and smooth out your nails surface.





If you have access to nail hardener, or nail oil, use that to strengthen your nails.





After buffing your nails, you have a new surface to start with. That's when you would need to use the nail hardener to strengthen the newly buffed nails.
