A friend of mine at school has a split all the way down on one of his thumbs. Has anyone on answers ever had this and how do you treat it?

You can open a tea bag and cut a small piece out of the bag to form a patch. Glue it onto the nail with clear nail polish. It should keep the nail from falling off. Really all you can do it wait for it to grow out though.
